The objectives of this visit were several:
- an approach to the MST in relation to its history, objectives, strategies, context and analysis of the current situation.
- know the social, economic and political settlements of the MST. Study
- organizational and technological perspective (cooperation and agro-ecological production mode).
believe that such experiences allows workers to strengthen links between sectors and social movements that have a critical look at current agro-export model, as well as joint projects to build a production model first alternative where a balanced relationship with nature and distribute its benefits equitably throughout society.
Interestingly it was found that the MST is working permanently in alternative productive partnerships of various types and in this context what surprised us is the creativity and participation of all workers involved.
These experiences form part of an ongoing struggle to create another world, a new mode of production that is sustainable, with a new relationship between man and nature.
Also know these cooperatives helped to demystify the idea that organic necessarily mean higher costs and higher final price, making the good food is a privilege not a right. Here cooperatives understand that organic production is not just for the rich, but everyone should have access to it.
Finally moved some features of the characterization of production systems observed:
- agroecological Vision (The production unit is an ecosystem subject to a particular ecological dynamics determined by a space and time.)
- Improve basic food production and conservation of native germplasm (native) of the crop.
- effective use of local resources (land, labor, agricultural products, etc.).
- Diversification of production through polyculture and integrated land-livestock agriculture.
- point to adapt the technology to the production of scale.
- Food sovereignty (approximates the relationship between production and consumption). Perspective
- associated products in various types (cooperatives, "Ming", single and mixed-associative).
- The foundation (the center of concern) of the agro-ecosystem is the family unit and its reproduction.
- aspire to be an alternative model anti-capitalist system.
- Parental Control over production and labor (food sovereignty).
